Credit for copied work

Just a simple question, What's to be gained by taking credit for something you have traced?

Devious Comments

attention, good or bad.
Praise, the attention, the admiration, so forth and etc. Deserved or not, hollow or not, it's all the same to some.
That feeling of triumph from gettign away with something, 20 nanoseconds before the mockery starts.
Only Narcissists steal work. They can't get enough friggin attention...
personally, if it were me, i'd pass all the credit to the owner of the original... but that's just me.
Nothing really. Maybe for practice to improve on something you're not use to, until you get the feel for it on your own. But really no credit or freehand work when it comes to copying and tracing.

The better the artist, the bigger the critic they may become. This is the undenyable truth, for I believe it to be so.
Monetary gains

Money, attention...all the same things you get for doing the original artwork so long as you don't get caught.

Save for...you know...that warm feeling deep down that people admire you for being who you truely are and sharing an important part of yourself with the world. That's replaced by an empty feeling that you are, simply put, a huge waste of space and knowing you have to pray like crazy for forgiveness because if there is a God, he probably hates you.

Why do you ask?
